What is a Caregiver?
A person who cares for an elderly relative, friend, neighbor or spouse for an hour or more each week. A caregiver often helps by running errands, helping with meals, assisting with medications, and a variety of other tasks.
How does Senior Neighbors support Caregivers?
Senior Neighbors can work with Caregivers by helping them find a Support Group or Training Session. We also refer caregivers to various organizations that provide services to make the caregiver’s role easier to manage.
Senior Neighbors offers Essential Services to help Caregivers or their loved ones including:
- Home repairs
- Home delivered meals
- Refer to In-home nursing care
- Money to help pay bills
- Prescription assistance
- Transportation
- Senior Neighbors Senior Center
- Referrals for respite care
I am overwhelmed by Caregiving, how can Senior Neighbors help?
Senior Neighbors has access to Respite Care for qualified seniors. This service allows caregivers to have a periodic break from the care they give.
The agency also can help find appropriate assisted living and nursing home care when the caregivers are no longer able to provide the care they need.
Senior Neighbors can be reached by calling (616) 459-6019 for more information, or to talk to a Senior Neighbors case manager
