Senior Neighbors has several Senior Neighbors Centers around Kent County. The aim of the centers is the same as the overall agency purpose: to keep older adults Independent by offering Essential Services.
A Hot, Nutritious Meal Five Days a Week?
- YES! Daily Meals are offered at most centers Monday through Friday
- A $1.50 donation is requested for the midday meal for persons 60 and over.
- Meal times are served between 11:30 a.m. and noon depending upon the center.
- Reservations are requested three working days in advance by calling the Senior Neighbors Center you would like to visit.
I Know Exercise is Important, How Do I Get Involved?
- Exercise classes vary from site to site, but most Senior Neighbors Centers offer them weekly.
What Else is Offered at the Senior Neighbors Centers?
- Enrichment Classes are offered regularly and might include: Current Topic discussions, Book discussions, Bible Study, Telling my Story, Water Color Painting, Gardening, Learning Videos and various crafts.
- Games including bingo
- Local excursions: Lowell, Sparta, and Grandville have bi-monthly day trips. Oak Ridge offers a trip twice a year.
- Each Senior Neighbors Center has monthly blood pressure checks, quarterly eye, ear and foot assessments. Yearly flu and pneumonia shots are also available.
- Tax consultants are available at all centers during February and March by appointment.
- Monthly nutrition classes are offered at the centers by the Michigan State Extension Service.
